For a remodeling project, do the following:

Step 1
Draw the walls of the room on a sheet of graph paper. Start at one point in the room and move around the perimeter of the room, listing each measurement between the doors and windows, and ending at the point where you started. Mark down the height of the ceiling or indicate that it is a cathedral ceiling.

Step 2
On the Wish list.XLS , answer as many of the questions as possible for the items you want in your new kitchen.

Step 3
On the same checklist, indicate the type of appliances you intend to use. If you have not yet selected your appliances, just include a brief description of the type you think you will be using, i.e. double-wall oven, built-in refrigerator, etc.

For new construction, it’s even easier:

Step 1
Take a photocopy of the kitchen area plan and any other rooms where you will require cabinetry, i.e. bathrooms, entertainment centers, bookcases, etc.

Step 2
On the Wish list.XLS, answer as many of the questions as possible for the items you want in your new kitchen.

Step 3
On the same checklist, indicate the type of appliances you intend to use. If no selection has been made at this time, just include a brief description of the type you think you will be using, i.e. double wall oven, built-in refrigerator, etc.
